Moderation: Birgit Schlieps<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n1.OG, nGbK<br \/>\nOranienstr. 25<br \/>\n10999 Berlin<br \/>\nwww.ngbk.de<\/p>\n<p>Der langj\u00e4hrige Wettbewerb Kunst im Untergrund \u2013 eine internationale Ausschreibung zur k\u00fcnstlerischen Bespielung des Berliner U-Bahn-Netzes \u2013 geht in die Peripherie. Das Projekt taucht entlang der U5 in der Plattenbausiedlung von Hellersdorf auf und fragt: \u201eWas ist Drau\u00dfen?\u201c.Diese Frage provoziert, weil das \u201eDrau\u00dfen\u201c r\u00e4umlich gesehen werden kann, als Stadtrand oder Peripherie, aber auch einen gesellschaftlichen Spaltungsprozess widerspiegelt, wer noch dazugeh\u00f6rt und wer nicht. Die Publikation verkn\u00fcpft die Recherche der Projektgruppe mit einer Pr\u00e4sentation der realisierten Arbeiten. Erg\u00e4nzende Hintergrundtexte und fotografische Beobachtungen bieten eine neue Perspektive auf Gro\u00dfsiedlungen und die \u201eDrau\u00dfenstadt\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>The long-standing Art in the Underground competition \u2013 an international call for artistic interventions on the Berlin Underground network \u2013 goes to the periphery. The project surfaces along the U5 line on Hellersdorf\u2019s housing estates and poses the question: \u201cWhat is outside?\u201d The question is provocative, because not only can \u201coutside\u201d be seen as being spatial, as the edge of the city or periphery, but it can also be seen as reflecting a process of division in society, as those who still belong and those who do not. The publication connects the project group\u2019s research with a presentation of the art works realised along the U5.
